January 2009 Tom Kruse, CRI receives the President’s Award from the Holmen Area
Chamber of Commerce
HACCA President Roxanne Reynolds praised Tom’s many contributions stating : “Tom has
done so much for the organization”. Tom has also been re-elected as a director of HACCA.
Besides volunteering for HACCA, Tom is also the treasurer for “Friends of the Holmen Area
Library” a non-profit group with a goal of improving the current Holmen library.
May 2008 Tom Kruse, CRI is elected to the office President of the Wisconsin Association of
Home Inspectors (WAHI).
WAHI is a statewide organization established in 1995 with the goal of improving the
competency of home inspectors through education and professional interaction. WAHI
encourages a team standard of conduct, professionalism, and objectivity where inspectors
learn from each other thus increasing the overall value of the final inspection product. An
inspection from a WAHI inspector adds real value for anyone buying, selling or maintaining a

January 2008 PHI now offering a “Home Energy Tune-up Inspection” helping clients save
money while operating their home.
The energy costs associated with home ownership are constantly on the rise. This service
lists energy improvements and their estimated savings and costs; explains recommendations
in detail, and provides general guidance on indoor air quality. It also includes our famous
post-inspection support. There is a sample report on the website. This additional service
helps us maintain our leadership role in home inspection, and helps us achieve our mission

Sept 2007 PHI will be instructing “Maintain/Build Your Home Value” classes through the
Lifelong Learning Department at Western Technical College.
The home sciences require continual learning in all areas. There are always new methods
and materials coming on the market. Some changes are good, some not so good. Some
changes are great, but few are aware they exist. These classes will provide solid education
for maintaining and operating existing homes, and give valuable perspective/options on new
home construction before the first nail is driven. These classes are another avenue to help
instill consumer confidence and achieve our mission statement of "Helping People Make

cleaning/inspections. An internal furnace inspection requires specialized training and
licensing beyond the scope and standards of a home inspection. It is another way we

April 2006 Tom Kruse, CRI is elected to the office of Vice President of the newly
established Chippewa Valley Chapter of the Wisconsin Association of Home Inspectors
WAHI is expanding as the demand for home inspections continues to increase. The

March 2006 Troy Peterson and Mark Sivill both earn Certified Real Estate Inspector (CRI)
PHI is very proud to announce that both Troy Peterson and Mark Sivill have passed the CRI
examination. The CRI designation requires additional continuing education hours and
passing an annual peer review process. The CRI is NAHI’s highest designation.

November 2005 Tom Kruse, CRI (owner) assisted in the development of a continuing
education class for the real estate profession
Tom Kruse, along with Michaels Engineering and A & J Service, Inc. has developed a state
approved four hour class covering home inspection, mold investigations and mold
remediation. Tom and representatives from Michaels Engineering and A&J Service will
conduct the course in 2006. The class is another example of Professional Home Inspection
Company's commitment to education and support of the real estate profession.
September 2005 Tom Kruse (owner) earns Certified Real Estate Inspector (CRI)
Congratulations to Tom for becoming a Certified Real Estate Inspector. To earn the CRI
designation Tom had to pass an examination and meet the requirements set forth by the
Board of Directors of the National Association of Home Inspectors (NAHI). This is NAHI’s

July 2005 Jay Schnoor (former owner) receives Lifetime Achievement Award
F. Jay Schnoor (former owner of Professional Home Inspection Company) of La Crescent,
MN received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Home
Inspectors, Inc. at its annual meeting. The award is based on leadership, creativity and
innovation, accomplishments and personal development. Jay continues with PHI as a
consultant. Congratulations, Jay!
June 2005 PHI begins quarterly E-newsletter
PHI emailed its first quarterly newsletter in June 2005. The newsletters are emailed to
customers who have provided email addresses to us. The newsletter includes company
updates, home maintenance tips, safety recalls and FYI
April 2005 PHI and Michaels Engineering agree on website linking
PHI and Michaels Engineering, a provider of mold testing, agreed to the web linking as a
service to both our customers and website visitors. Michaels does not perform home
inspections. PHI does not perform mold testing. Both companies agree these services are
best performed by industry specialists.
March 2005 Troy Peterson inspects 1000th property
Troy Peterson inspected his 1000th property this month. This is quite an achievement and
reflects Troy’s devotion to inspecting and love for the industry. Congratulations, Troy!
March 2005 Mark Sivill joins PHI
Mark brings more than 25 years in the construction & remodeling businesses experience to
PHI. He has a strong following of fans who are calling for him to provide them with home
preservation and pre-purchase inspections. Welcome aboard Mark!!
February 2005 New Post Inspection Self-Help Document Request service introduced
PHI began offering a post inspection self-help document service. The documents educate
customers in completing do-it yourself repairs, maintenance and other home improvement
projects. The documents also assist customers in having more fruitful discussions when
they are interviewing contractors to provide services.
Nov 2004 Computerized report introduced
Tom Kruse (owner) begins using new computerized checklist report with a summary sheet.
The new report has gone through several software updates as well as format changes
based on suggestions by inspectors, customers and Realtors. The manual checklist report
was phased out by February 2005. The computerized report is more detailed and more
readable than the old manual report.
Fall 2004 PHI joins La Crosse Area Builders Association
PHI strives to remain the best inspection company in the area. In order to accomplish this
goal, we must be aware of changes in technology and construction practices. Membership
in LABA and communication with local builders assists us in keeping current with local

June 2004 Tom and Jane Kruse purchase PHI from Jay Schnoor
After many years of inspecting, Jay decided to retire and pursue other interests. He agreed
to sell PHI to Tom and Jane. He remains a valuable consultant and friend to us all.
April 2004 Tom Kruse passes national test for Certified Radon Measurement and joins the
National Environmental Health Association (NEHA)
Passing the national exam is one of the requirements for joining NEHA. Other requirements
include having a written quality control program for monitoring the radon testing equipment
and procedures for testing. Membership in NEHA allows PHI to maintain the highest
credentials for testing, continuing education and consultation for all radon related issues.
NEHA membership also helps PHI stay current with changes in the radon information and
radon testing industries. Congratulations, Tom!
